PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

PARENTS ARE REGARDED AS MEMBERS OF OUR SETTING WHO HAVE FULL PARTICIPATORY RIGHTS.  THESE INCLUDE A RIGHT TO BE …..Valued and respected; kept informed; consulted; involved; and included at all levels.

There are lots of ways that you can get involved in our Pre-School….

Firstly, we welcome up to three parent representatives onto our Committee (please refer to Page Heading ‘Committee”).  The parent representatives act as part of your speaking voice too – so please have a word with them.  If you are not sure who they are then refer to the Notice Board or ask a member of staff.

Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) -  This is normally in November each year. Parents are required to attend this Meeting – and we welcome your comments and ideas.

We encourage parents to sign up on our ‘Parents Rota’ – which is always hanging up on our Notice Board.  It’s great to have parents visit and help us in this way – although we do suggest that parents of newer/younger children wait until the child has settled-in properly before volunteering in this way.  For Fire Safety reasons, if you do stay for a session, please sign-in the VISITORS BOOK when you arrive and sign out when you leave – Thank You.

Equality Working Group  –  We really appreciate parents involvement in joining this group.  Please speak to our Equality Needs Co-ordinator who will be able to explain what it’s about.

We also appreciate parents coming in to show their own skills and talents, or talk about their occupation to the children e.g. we have had a daddy policeman visit;  parents and family that play instruments (drums, piano);  puppets; face-painting; showing their exotic pets; special crafts; cooking activities; etc.

Activities e.g. Pre-School Trips – We normally have a Summer Trip to a local Country Park and have a Park Ranger and parents are involved in accompanying their child – its a great day to socialise with other parents and more opportunities to talk to staff too.  Other activities where parent are involved are Nativity Play and ‘Leaver’s Assembly’.

We do, from time to time, give out questionnaires to get more or an idea of what you want to see going on in our setting.

Parents have kindly offered to do fund raising events too.

There are often activities going on in the church e.g. Quizes, picnics at the park, barn dances – which all Pre-School parents and families are invited to.

We try and keep you informed as much as possible and we do this by word and mouth; newsletters; notice boards; emails; letters;  chalk board; facebook and,  our website.

We give you a NEWSLETTER at the beginning of every half term which shows what we are planning during that time.  Please have a look at the ‘Home Involvement’ and how you can help your child bring in things each week.

FACEBOOK  -  We do have our own Facebook page which is only for parents/carers or persons directly involved with the Pre-School.   Parents have to give pre-school their consent beforehand and have to be ‘accepted’ by pre-school.  Please note that once your child is no longer with us then you will be ‘declined’.

WEEKLY PLANNING -  This is put on our facebook page each week so you can seen what we are doing and why.  It may contain parental/home involvement.  We welcome feedback please.
